Saturday

On Saturday, Wayne ran in a 10K race to benefit the zoo. He has been training for around 6 weeks and he did pretty well. He has been running with a guy from church. We are proud of him! Saturday after Wayne got home from his race, we went to Trinity Park - to the duck pond. We fed the ducks, the birds and squirrels. It was a beautiful day. Everyone's favorite part of the outing were the baby turtles. They were so cute and tiny. We wanted to scoop them up and take them home but we left them with their mommies. We ran to a few stores to do some shopping and then went to eat at Uncle Julio's. Everyone loved that place. We came home to let the girls play, they played outside for hours - had a GREAT time. At the end of the night, they were so exhausted, they fell asleep on our bed watching a movie.

Sidewalk painting.

Enjoying the outdoors, it was such a nice evening that we all set up chairs and watched the kids paint and play and take turns walking Bogey.

Popsicle Break!

When the girls were almost out of paint, they decided to just get every last drop with their hands. They started trying to fingerpaint but the paint dries too fast so they were handprinting. They had the best time getting filthy and then breaking out the water to clean it up. They had a BLAST!
Goodnight - they konked out watching a movie on our bed.

A Fun Weekend

My mom (Grammy), my grandmother (Nana), sister (EE), and niece (Hailey) came into town on Friday for a visit. We had a fun weekend and the girls just had a blast. Hailey still calls Kelsie her sissy. It's really so cute how much they just love each other. Hailey just does whatever sissy does and Kelsie is such a great "big sissy." I have LOTS of pictures of the weekend so I will post them a little at a time. We will start with Friday. After we picked up Kelsie at 2, we went by the Botanical Gardens. The last time we were there, the rose gardens were not blooming so we wanted to go and check it out - my mom loves roses too. The girls had fun playing at the little log area after we walked through the rose garden, it was beautiful. We headed to Central Market after that to get a few things to cook out for dinner. The kids played out on the playground with Grammy and Nana while we shopped and then we headed home to cookout, relax and let the girls play. A great day!!

More pictures

Kelsie in her group at practice, rehearsing their part.

Our week has flown by and our weather yesterday was crazy with tornados all around and sirens going off but we were just fine at our house - lots of rain and wind but nothing more than that. Anyway, here are some pictures sent to me from someone else's camera at church. I thought I would share it with you. Grammy, Nana, EE and Hailey are coming to town on Friday. We haven't seen everyone since Hailey's b-day in February. We are all excited that they are coming. Hope you have a good week.
By the way, Morning of Praise was GREAT! The best part of the morning was a prayer time we had where people prayed in many different languages. It was such a sweet time and then we sang "Hallelujah to the Lamb."....."Lord, we stand in the midst of a multitude, of those from every tribe and tongue, we are your people, called by your name, humbly we bow and we pray..." Well, I could go on - such a great song. The focus was God and who He is - great, mighty, loving, personal, just, and worthy to be praised. We are blessed to serve here among people who truly love God. I hope to have some pictures as a guy in our YCAM took some at rehearsal and in the second service. I will post them if I get them........more soon.

Kelsie's Musical and other pics

I wanted to get these pics up from K's school musical on Thursday night. The kids did a great job - "I Witness News." On Friday, we took a family day and all went downtown to Fort Worth's Main Street Art Festival. The weather was great - we had a good time looking at all the artists work and Kelsie did a few things at the kids area. Kelsie did the rock climbing at the kids area and we saw a cute show from the "Yo-Yo People." Friday night Kelsie stayed with Ashton and Wayne and I went back out to the Art Festival with another couple from church to hear the concerts. We heard a little of a jazz band called "Fingerprints" and then a country band "Asleep at the Wheel." The country band is not the normal kind of music that I would like but it was a pretty good concert (especially since it was free). The funniest part of it was people watching.....we got some good laughs out of that one. Here are a few pics....

Kelsie singing in a quartet. She also sang a duet.

Kelsie with some of her classmates after the musical.

The "Yo-Yo People" out at the Art Festival.

Kelsie wearing the hat she made.

Kelsie climbing the rock. She did make it all the way to the top.

A picture of Bass Hall from the parking garage. I love Bass Hall - it's so pretty inside and out.

The only pic I have from "Pink Floyd" - had to take a pic of the flying pink pig.

Lots of Different Stuff

None of this information really goes together, but here it is anyway.....
  • "The Office" is hilarious! Some friends from church have the DVD sets of Seasons 1 and 2 and they brought them over on Friday night and I'm officially hooked on it. It's kinda random and you have to watch a few of them to get into it - but it's FUNNY!
  • Little kids catch on to video games much faster than adults! We had some friends from church over Sat. night to cook out burgers and let the kids play - the intention being that they play outside but it was too cold so they were in. We turned on the Wii for them to play and the little 5 year old caught on super fast and beat the adults in bowling!
  • Wayne and I had our first experience with "Pink Floyd" last night. Literally, we went to a concert called "The Pink Floyd Experience." We went with a couple from church - Tom and Kathy - Tom plays guitar in the band and is our Bible Study Leader. The band guys are always talking about Pink Floyd so when we saw the concert we decided to see what all the hoopla was about. The first half was pretty good but the second half was great - more familiar songs and they fixed a few sound things in between sets that made it more pleasurable to hear.
  • We are having our first Morning of Praise at Wedgwood this Sunday (we usually do Night of Praise). Tonight's rehearsal went really well and seeing it all come together is exciting. It's a phenomenon that you can practice these songs a zillion times in your car, house, etc - but when people come together and pour their hearts out to God in singing, it becomes new again. There is something about being one part of a large voice declaring the truth of God - who He is and glorifying His name. I can't wait for Sunday - really I'm just as excited about Sat night's rehearsal too.
  • Kelsie has a musical at school tomorrow. She is really excited, she is singing a little duet and gets to wear a biblical costume. I will share pictures tomorrow or Friday.
  • Friends are so valuable!! The other night, Donna (a friend of mine in Keller, we have been friends for about 9-10 years) called and she was over here doing some things for her in-laws. Anyway, she needed a break and wanted to go out to eat, just us girls. I had already started on dinner so I just left instructions for Wayne on how to finish it up once they got home from swim at the Y - he was great about it. It was just fun to catch up and laugh over dinner. We didn't stay too long b/c she needed to get home and I had things to do with my family, but just those few moments to be girls is so needed sometimes. THANKS Donna!

Well, that's all the ramblings I have for now - I hope to post pics of Kelsie's play tomorrow night or Friday. Hope you are having a good week.

Crazy Texas Weather

First we had cold and April snow (Easter weekend). Then major thunderstorms last night. Our area of town did not have the worst of it. At our house it just rained and we had an impressive lightning show which we watched out our living room windows. It was a little unnerving when the tornado sirens were going off. Then today we have COLD and it's very windy. This morning the wind chill was in the upper 30's and Wayne played in a golf tournament today! The wind was brutal! They did okay in spite of it and had a good time. So this weather is CRAZY and as cold as it is today I am starting to doubt global warming. Have a good week......

Art and Swim

Kelsie participated in an Art Festival at school today. She entered a drawing of three crosses (I hope to take a picture of her with it once we get it back). Anyway, she said there were lots of good projects and she received 2nd place for her grade. Swimming - Kelsie has started taking swimming again at the Y and she went to her first lesson on Tuesday. Once we got there it was very apparent that she was in the wrong class b/c she was one of two kids that could swim on their own. These kids were mostly beginners. She stayed with the class and at the end the instructor said that she was far enough along to be on the swim team. It is a significant increase in commitment b/c instead of two days a week, it's 5 days. Kelsie was very excited and felt like a big kid being on an actual team. Hope your week is good!! More soon.

Easter Sunday

Attempting to take a picture with all of us is a challenge b/c Bogey is such a spaz. This was the best one we took and we didn't attempt too many b/c we were freezing!!!

Kelsie posing outside. Her dress is sleeveless but it was too cold so we added the little white sweater. She wore her little tiara and she looked so pretty. A young lady.
Hope you had a Blessed Easter. Our services were great and we had a restful afternoon. Kelsie had a friend over to play for a little while in the afternoon and then we had Easter dinner. It was a good day of rest and Wayne especially loved that he got to watch ALL of the Masters. Have a good week!!!

Happy Easter

Kelsie in class - they had a poem to recite and a song to sing before our party began. Kelsie at her desk - what a big girl.

Look MOM!!

Kelsie won this chocolate bunny in a class drawing. She was so sweet and offered to share it with the entire class. The kids loved getting a piece of it and the boys especially thought it was cool to eat "the brain." We were very proud of her for her willingness to share.

Happy Easter!!! We have had a busy week with all the season's activities going on. We went to a Passover Dinner at church on Wednesday night. A Messianic Jewish Rabbi came and led us in the Haggadah and explained the Jewish passover traditions and then explained the prophecies in light of Jesus. It was neat and very informative and has led to some good discussion with Kelsie. We all learned alot participating in a hands-on way and the Rabbi was funny and easy to listen to. Friday night we had a Good Friday service. Somber and a pointed reminder of what Christ did for us on the cross. This will make Easter Sunday sweeter as we celebrate His resurrection and thank Him for being present in our lives today. Thank you Jesus for the gift of your Son.

Kelsie has been busy with her own activities. Her class had their Easter party after chapel on Friday. The kids sang some songs, read a poem, did some activities, had an egg hunt and then dyed eggs. The kids were so creative in their designs and they were surprisingly neat for 17 kids messing with dye and paint. On Saturday we had our traditional egg hunt at our house - this was our 2nd year to have some of Kelsie's little girl friends over to hunt eggs and have a little party. We did something different this year and had a "Bunny Store." We set up a little shop with items Kelsie and I had been buying for the last month. We had a great time together finding things, making signs and deciding how to price the items. We stuffed the eggs with "Bunny Money" and once the girls opened up their eggs and counted their money, they could go shopping. Everyone had a great time shopping and then playing with the things they bought. The moms had a lunch of girl food - there were 3 dads there and they decided it was definitely girlie food and settled on jalapeno potato chips, the kids cheetos and sandwiches. The best part was hiding and hunting eggs in the snow. It was snowing like crazy at some points and the girls had a good time bundling up and playing in it. Well, hope your Easter is a good one - maybe warmer than ours is suppose to be. I hope to get some pictures of Kelsie in her dress but no promises that they will be outside pics....we are suppose to have cold weather again tomorrow.
